A Sister’s Cellphone Grief

Maria Ramoutar was on the way home from South Beach in the early morning. She had left in a different car from her sister, her friends and brother in-law.

Maria came upon a car accident in which one car was completely on fire and the entire road was being blocked so she was forced to wait until police let her through.

For approximately twenty minutes she used the camera on her cellphone to videotape the burning car. It wasn’t until hours later that Maria and her family learned that it was her sister Andrea who had burned to death in the burning car. Maria now regrets that she did nothing and didn’t even try to jump through the flames to help but police and firefighters were already there and wasn’t much that she could have done.

Cellphones are used by so many of us and a lot of people whip them out to record an image or movie and it a little scary when you think about what you can ultimately catch on that tiny device.
