So Michael Kritzer has invented the Herbi Smart Hydroponic Garden, which is a sleek countertop herb pot that tracks water levels, PH levels and nutrients. Add water and fertilizer to the device and they’ll automatcially be distrubuted to the plants for up to a month. When something is running low, a blue LED lights up to let you know.

You can attach up to six units (“plant silos”). Enough for a good range of herbs…
