Aol is looking to drop most of it’s paid subscriptions for broadband users. They are hoping that those still on dial-up will go get broadband which will be good for them and parent company Time Warner.
However I’m not at all sure that I and many others would even both to use AOL free or not. It has been bashed to death online with classy names like AOHell because of multiple problems including billing and overzealous sales people.
Even free I’m not sure I won’t get calls from their sales department trying to get me to sign up to who knows what.
