The music industry won a suit against file sharing giant Kazaa in excess of $100 million dollars. Kazaa also agreed to go legitimate to seal the deal.
However as most know Kazaa is no longer what it once was so this is not a big deal for most that read this. They have been in the middle of a crossfire for a long time now. On one side stood the music industry who were furious over copy-right infringement and on the other side were the very users that made the program a hit in the past.
Users have been mad for the last few years and most stopped using it because Kazaa went the way of many other programs in that it made millions by allowing spyware and adware companies to bundle their software onto your computer when Kazaa was installed. This led to many problems including having to restart your pc just to get rid of most of it.
The most laughable aspect came when someone created Kazaa Lite. The full power of Kazaa like it used to be, spyware free. Kazaa left statements saying that this was illegal copyright infringement. Can anyone say ironic considering that by that time they were already in court with record companies.
