Dutch architect Janjaap Ruijssenaars has created the world’s first floating bed. Seriously. Using gigantic magnets on the floor and beneath the bed itself, the two magnets repel against each other to produce a floating feel. Thin wires then hold the bed in place.
Add a mattress and sheets and your all set to have a nap inches off the floor with nothing but gravity supporting you. Ruijssenaars says that he got the idea from the cult classic 2001: A Space Odyssey.
