Police Use MySpace To Catch Criminals

New York’s Suffolk County Police Department uses MySpace to find sex offenders.  Kevin Poulson wrote a script to search MySpace profiles for registered sex offenders, and the officers uses that program to find “744 sex offenders with MySpace profiles, …. Of those, 497 are registered for sex crimes against children. In this group, six of them are listed as repeat offenders”  And those are just the ones who used their real names.
