Artificial Stomach
November 10, 2006

Scientists in the UK has created the worlds first artificial gut. This prototype is create with plastics and metals that can take the corrosive acids usually found in the human body to digest food.
“There have been lots of jam-jar models of digestion before,” said Dr. Martin Wickham of Norwich’s Institute of Food Research, the artificial gut’s chief designer, referring to the beakers of enzymes typically used to approximate the chemical reactions in the stomach.

Glo by TiVo (not JLo)
November 3, 2006
Want a “premium remote” to go with your Series3 box? Try “Glo.”
TiVo’s Glo remote is… well, a lot like the TiVo non-Glo remote, except for that snazzy chrome rim.
It does have a “DVR switch,” though, which allows you to talk to dual TiVos with the flick of your finger.
Costs $50.

Hannspree TVs with faux wood
November 3, 2006
This reminds me of those rad, retro wood-paneled station wagons one still sees on the road sometimes…
It’s a new line of HDTV sets from Hannspree. They come warmly wrapped in faux wood paneling, something that (I think?) hasn’t been done before in the world of HDTVs.
They come in three sizes (26″, 32″ and 37″) and display at 1,366 x 768. Each set comes with a memory card reader which can accept CompactFlash MicroDrive, Smart Media, SD, MMC, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro.
The prices range from $1,200 to $1,900, depeding on the size you want.
Very cool, methinks.
