Speed up firefox!

October 31, 2008

Here’s something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.
If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages MUCH faster now!
If you are usinf firefox 3, you can search for the entry you want in a searcj box on top of the page, making things easy.

London may get World Cup 2010 action in HD

October 26, 2008

Fabio Capello and his WAG-free England team have started their World Cup campaign in such blistering fashion, that the BBC are hoping London can follow the boys in South Africa in glorious HD splendour.

The Beeb have requested that spectrum frequencies involved in bringing Freeview HD to the entire country can be temporarily moved to focus its attentions on densely populated areas like London to receive Freeview HD TV quicker than planned.

The regulators of all things television-orientated, Ofcom, have outlined a proposal to pilot a scheme to bring HD services in time for the 2010 World Cup, two years earlier than planned for the capital.

Ofcom have looked to London as a location to speed up the Freeview HD services, mainly as it possesses a population that could field a first eleven thousands of times over, but more for the reason that the BBC have identified it as a prime HD spot.

Freeview HD services were not due to reach London until 2012, to tie in with the Olympics, but the Beeb it seems have been swept up like the rest of the country by Capello-induced hysteria.

Nokia’s “Comes With Music” arrives on 3 Mobile network

October 26, 2008

Clearly very much in tune with Nokia’s “Comes With Music” service, the phone network provider have duly jumped onto the mobile musical bandwagon to give access to Nokia’s online music store.

3 Mobile will give its customers with a compatible Nokia N95 and computer, free reign to devour the very innards of Nokia’s 4 million track superstore whenever you get that audio bug.

Boasting a range of tuneage covering the radio playlist dominated chart busters, to the lesser known independent musical outings, 3 look like they are bagging a potential number one in the music download domain.

Owning your downloads until you kick the proverbial bucket, or at least until your ears cannot sustain the drum and bass carnage any more, will also be sweet music to the ears of 3 Mobile customers and Nokia fans.

“Comes With Music” is up for grabs on the 3 Network from November 3rd.

Nokia Comes With Music N95 8GB is available on an 18 month contract with 300 mins/texts and 1 GB of inclusive internet access for £35.

Toyota announced The Winglet – Personal Transporter

October 26, 2008

Only a year after taking control of Sony’s robotics business, Toyota announced a mechanized vertical scooter. This personal transporter was intended to help people move about in public areas.

It was called the Winglet because of its fleet nature. It is the first gadget to duplicate the celebrated, navigation system of Dean Kamen’s Segway Transporter.

However, this scooter is not up to par to the Segway in speed or ruggedness. The new Segway model can go up to 12.5 miles/hour, and the slightness of the Winglet’s frame probably wouldn’t survive a Police chase.

According to Toyota, they will test three different models at Japanese airports later this year. The feedback received from customers will help determine whether Toyota will mass-market the gadget for sales.

Get classic!

October 24, 2008

Apple Inc has made a lot of contribution in catering the multimedia demands of today’s user. If you are too busy to sit at one place and enjoying your stereo sound system, then iPod classic should be your choice. As it can help you to keep as many as hundreds of songs close to you and you can listen them while you are on a move.

The interface and look of the iPod is good enough to call is stylish, perhaps, not as good as one of the latest iPods that Apple have introduced, but still a good one. There are actually, six in total, generations of iPod Classic, with some specifics, as 3G, 4G, 5G, 6G, uses a USB and 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G uses FireWire, for connectivity. There are click wheels for 4G, 5G, 6G, and touch wheel for 2G, 3G and Scroll wheel for1G. When you will enquire about the display then 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G comes with 160×128 2-inch monochrome LCD while 5G, 6G can be acquired in 320×240 2.5-inch color LCD.

There are some of the very best features, For Instance, text files, schedules can be viewed and with the nice options of connectivity can be transferred from and to the host computer. Games were also included in the previous generations but in the latest and current generation there are games with a downloadable feature.

In sixth Generation, there are far more improvements, like here you will experience a battery with almost the 7 hours of video playback and with an overwhelmingly great time for the audio playback. A battery is really essential to make these devices look good as a long battery stand can only provide users a satisfactory experience.

iPod Classic uses a hard disk to making all storages which is somewhat an old fashion, as now there are more sophisticated models on the block that uses the great flash memory. This perhaps is a kind of draw back as with the hard disk, you can experience some disruption and skipping, which can be really annoying some times. Also, some people are of the view that sixth Generation iPods don’t offer the great sound quality when compare to that of fifth generation. Also, there are some skeptical views when it comes to the software, as it tends to show some problems that are consistently reported. However, Apple is trying to cover the glitches in the softwares and with the up gradation of the FireWire.

As the Apple is endeavoring to sort out all the problems to make it more worthier for you, However, Suffice it to say that iPod classic is what you need when you want to store a large number of your songs, movies, and TV shows on your mp3 device, it will acknowledge all your actions and will provide you a great experience with its long-lasting battery, want to enjoy your music or movies, what more you can ask for than just to have an iPod Classic for you.
