Mind Games
November 17, 2008
We agreed to be part of a behavior experiment that wanted couples to
play an electric shock game, partly because I heard “game” and
“electric shock” and I thought it would be funny, and partly because we
wanted to see how we’d do in an experiment I read in a psych class
about experiments like the Milgram experiment, I always think that I’d never do anything like that, that I’d be in that tiny percentage who stop the experiment and go home.Ours wasn’t anything like that, though, but we were told one thing while they were secretly testing for another.
First we had to take a relationship survey, pages of questions
rating how much I like Stick, 10, 10, 10, 10, and then write about a
recent good experience. We learned later than the answers weren’t
important, it was just to get us in a lovey-dovey mood for the real
experiment. Then we were told to hold on the handles to receive an annoying
electrical pulse, and whichever of us can hold on longer, wins! They
weren’t kidding about the annoying part. We got the impression —
although we weren’t actually told this — that it was a battle of the
sexes, a test to see which of us could hold on longer. We made it 24 seconds! Incredibly low compared to other couples, and
I only held on that long because I didn’t want to let go right away and
ruin the guy’s psych experiment (So maybe I would have fallen for the
Milgram trick? Probably not, since I was mildly shocking myself, not
someone screaming in pain). The actually test was measuring whether
shiny happy kissyfaces or grumpy people can hold on longer, I don’t
know the results though.I’m really glad we happened to be in the happy group and not the
angry group, because answering all the questions about the last time
Stick was really nice to me put me in a good mood. Also the winning.
Winning put me a good mood too! I did mention that I “won”, right?
My gadget on hand
November 15, 2008
The most and favorite gadget of all ages is cellphone. It is usually carried wherever they go. It became a necessity because of its usefulness. Just a text message or call you can now communicate to someone. My present gadget is K800i of Sony ericsson. I am happy with it because of its 3.2 megapixel built in camera. I love taking pictures so , this one is right for me. I can also edit the quality of the photo I’ve taken. It has features that edit and design my pictures. I also love music. The sounds quality of this phone is loud and clear. I won’t need an mp3 because I already have this. I xan also download certain wallpapers, music or games onlinenthrough its USB connection. It is also internet ready. My favorite features of this phone is that it has a 3G connection. I can now see the person am talking to during phone conversation. It is practical to have this phone. It’s like all good things put into one gadget.
Our first LCD TV
November 14, 2008
When I was married, my partner first thought of buying appliances than going out of town. It is practical and for the future use as well. The first thing we buy is Samsung LCD TV 32 inches. I love it. Watching in a large screen can give a different feeling. With the sorround music makes an experience real or just like watching a movie in a theatre. It’s a wonderful experience for us couple because we can enjoy watching movie together at home. There’s no need now in going to the mall and spend to watch in moviehouses except for the new release good movies. You can connect your computer in this big screen. Playing a game in your console with this screen is now enjoyable. You can now feel the real action of the game you played. I love this LCD TV. Addition to that, its color black appearnce and style complements the design and color of our master bedroom.
Apple Ipod 30G
November 14, 2008
When Apple first launch this, I fell in love with it. My partner give this as a gift and I’m suprise to have one. I choose the color white because there are accessories that is good in white combination. This is so handy that I can carry it anywhere especially if I’m traveling. We can download movies, pictures and songs that’s within 30 gigabyte limit. It’s enough in storing numerous songs and movies. The quality of the movie on screen is based on the way you download it from your computer. It’s better to pick the clear and original picture quality one. Aside from the earphone, big speakers can now be attached to the ipod just in case you want soundtripping or used it in a party. Bags or pouch for ipod with speaker are now available in the market for fashion sense and use. It comes up with different colors of your choice like pink, white, etc. I’m glad that Apple thought about ineventing ipod. It is useful and become now a fad.
