Nokia 6700 Review

January 29, 2009

Recently Nokia announced 2 new cell phones in the classic series, 6700 and 6303. Today I am going to give you a preview of Nokia 6700 which is expected to be released this year. The most notable feature of the phone is no doubt its camera. 6700 will have a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with flash. The phone is a bit heavy and it weighs about 115 grams. This phone will be a 3G phone and will also have EDGE and HSCSD. One thing that I would like to see in this phone is WiFi. The phone will have 170 MB of internel memory which can be increased up to 8 GB with a memory card and the package will also contain a 1 GB card. It is a Java 2.1 enabled phone and it also has a built in FM radio with RDS.
Overall, the phone looks nice but, lack of Wifi can become a barrier in its success. But, only time will tell the truth about this phone.

Royal Sovereign Laminating Machine

January 29, 2009

I love the Royal Sovereign Laminating Machine. I use it all the time for my work and I could not be happier with it. The machine is portable, which is nice so I can move it from room to room. The machine heats up relatively fast so there is really no wasted time. While the machine is heating up I can get the laminating film on what ever I am doing that day.
There are 5 heat settings on this laminating machine, plus a cold setting. YOu just simply place the film over the things you want laminated and then place in to the cardboard applicator that it comes with, then feed it through the machine. How simple is that?
The laminating sheets come in a pack of 200 and the size that I use is the letter size, 8 3/4 inch by 11 1/4 inch. These are good for laminating badges, important and legal documents, articles that you want saved from magazines and newspapers, and recipes, plus so much more. We have already gotten our use from this machine. It has been used over and over and will get many more uses out of it.

January 29, 2009

Sony Ericsson k800 is a cybershot phone and is on of the best in the cybershot series. The phone was released in mid 2006 and is still amongst the best sony ericsson cyber shot phones. The phone has a 256k colors TFT display with a size of 2.0 inches. The phone comes with 26 mb of internal memory but you can increase it with the help of a memory card.
The phone is very good in design. On the fron side the half of the screen is covered with screen and there is a 3G video camera at the top. At the back there is flash and 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus. The keypad is very soft and easy to use but, the joystick can stop working after some time.
The camera results of the phone are some of the finest that i have ever seen. It is a JAVA 2.0 enables phone and it also has a FM radio with RDS.
Overall, it is a nice phone with a very good sound quality. And if you are looking for a phone with awesome camera piture quality then go for it.

LG KF900 Prada Review

January 28, 2009

LG is one of the best mobile companies on this planet and today I am going to review one of the best mobile phones from LG. KF900 Prada is a stylish cell phone from LG released in December 2008. It has a 3 inches touchscreen display with a resolution of 240×400 pixels. One of the main features of this phone is the QWERTY keyboard which slides from the side of the phone and is very comfortable to use. The next big thing in this phone is the 5 MP camera with autofocus and flash. The phone also has WiFi so, that you can log onto the internet from any location that has a WiFi hotspots. The phone has everything including 3G, WLAN, HSCSD, EDGE, Bluetooth etc. The phone come in black color only and looks very beautiful. KF900 Prada also has a TV output with which you can connect the phone with a TV and watch your videos or view photos through the TV.

Overall, it is a great phone that has everything that you can imagine in a phone. But, the phone is quite expensive. My advice is that you should wait for some time for the price to drop and then you can buy this phone if you find it affordable.

Cheap Chinese Junk!

January 27, 2009

No matter who you are and where you are, you have probably seen or used a cell phone. Do you remember how much you paid for it? And who was the manufacturer? Nokia? Sony Ericsson? And mobile
phones have become an indispensable part of our lives. But hey, did you know that you can buy an N95 for just $75? Surprised? Yes, you can. Only that it is not Nokia who manufactured it.

If you have ever been to Asian countries like India, Singapore or Malaysia, you will notice that markets are flooded with Chinese goods! “They are really hardworking chaps”, my father often tell me. Also, I must admit that they make pretty good cheap replicas of almost every model Nokia phone! You buy a phone for $500 and they will give you the same phone with all the features just for $75! Nobody is going to believe that its a duplicate! And you get a slightly defective piece of this $75 phone for just $12, if you are ready to buy yourself another one 2 months later!

Recently, in my town, news spread about $12 N95. No need to say that all the teenagers in the place rushed to get one. By the time I got the news it was too late, the police had already arrested the dealer. The dealer bought defective phones from the Chinese guys at a wholesale price (In this case, he bought it for $2.5 per piece!) and sold it at $12. But still, who wants to throw away a phone with 2 external speakers, 3 mega pixel camera, MP3 player and dual batteries even if its a duplicate? And you get it all for $12! But things began to go wrong when people realized that these phones emits harmful radiations! That’s it, you put the Sim card and it starts radiating! You might even end up with cancer! But this was an exceptional case, $12 deals are really rare.

I have wondered how they do it. But a little research among my old pile of newspapers and techie magazines really gave some good results. These guys get cheap labor in China. They often violate worker’s fundamental rights and exploit them to the maximum. No breaks, no insurance, no extra payments,
no leaves e.t.c. They buy low quality parts, for sure. But they are able to sell it at such a low price because they are able to cut down their labor cost. Even though the camera is 3 megapixel, you won’t get even a 2x zoom! Also, they smuggle these things into the place. So no custom duties either. Don’t expect even a day’s warranty period for these phones. The only way to get such phones repaired is to approach local mechanics. Needless to say, they often stop working.

Take out the battery from your original Nokia Mobile phone and check where it is made; it’s written in the back. My father’s real Nokia 6300’s battery was made in China! But its working without any trouble. So the thing is, China is a source of both top quality and low quality electronic goods. Also there are many vendors who give away these phones to unaware customers at the rate of original phones! Non techies are often tricked into buying Chinese phones at high prices. So whenever you buy a mobile phone, ask the vendor for guarantee/warranty card.
