Facebook members own the information on their page, and they have control over who sees it, but when they delete their accounts Facebook retains the right to use the information.
That has angered users, who are concerned that that stipulation will allow Facebook to retain personal information, and use it any way they see fit.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says,
“In reality, we wouldn’t share your information in a way you wouldn’t want.
The trust you place in us as a safe place to share information is the most important part of what makes Facebook work. Our goal is to build great products and to communicate clearly to help people share more information in this trusted environment.”
Zuckerberg goes on to say that Facebook cannot share personal information with others without the user’s consent, and that his company updated the terms to make that issue more clear.
