Google Street View Lawsuit is Dismissed

February 19, 2009

The ruling was issued Wednesday in Pennsylvania district court, and it states that Google’s Street View mapping service is not an invasion of privacy. The judge also denied a request for an injunction to stop Google from publishing Street View images.

The suit was filed last year by Christine and Aaron Boring, who became offended when a camera-toting car drove past their house and took pictures.

Google maintains that there isn’t really a such thing as complete privacy, and points out that photos of the house and the floor plan of it are already publicly available on the Allegheny County property assessor’s office website. Also, they say that they offer people the option to have images of their house and property removed from the Street View service.

It’s kind of ironic for people who claim to want total privacy, to draw such attention to themselves with such a public lawsuit.

Nintendo DSi Coming to the US

February 19, 2009

Nintendo will be bringing its newest handheld to the United States, the DSi, on April 5th, after a successful launch in Japan back in November.

What’s new about it? A slightly larger screen, slimmer profile, and two cameras to take snapshots. Special effects can be added to photos, and the pictures can be sent wirelessly between systems.

The DSi also comes with an SD card slot, to expand memory so that the user will be able to hold all those photos, and music.

Buyers will have their choice of a blue or black DSi, and it will retail for about $170.

Great thing about PSP

February 18, 2009

My sister got her PSP a year ago. It is very nice gadget for me, although it is expensive for a student like me. Her PSP is a slim one. PSP is short for Play Station Portable. With its name it is potable, you can bring it wherever you may go, but be sure that is fully charged so that you can enjoy it for a long time outdoor. The package include an 8GB memory stick, a headset, retractable grip, wherein it has an internal battery and you can play it like a regular play station joystick, a rubber cover and a plastic cover in exchange if you don’t like the rubber one, and a charger. The games can be transfer using your computer by only copy and paste. Some use it with wireless data transfer install in the PSP. You can also put your favorite music in MP3 and WMA format. If you are a movies addict this also good for you because you can install videos in MP4 formats.

Naruto on PSP

February 18, 2009

My favorite cartoon hero is Naruto. When I saw that my sister has this game on her PSP I played it every time I am not busy. My favorite characters are Naruto, Sakura and Saske. They are called the kakashi team. There are some hidden players which you can see in silhouette form but you can never choose them unless they are unlocked. When I played the heroes mode, it is in an easy mode but for me it was a difficult one. In this mode you can use everyone’s skill before the beginning of the battle. The last tag team to battle is Kakashi and Guy. I finished the last stage by winning against the two teachers and luckily it indicates that the two were unlocked. The bonus is the movie where you can watch at Naruto’s house. There is also a free battle where you can select your player as well as your enemy. You can earn points by winning the battle.

KPEX100

February 18, 2009

One of my gadgets is my Kingston KPEX100. It is an Mp4 with FM transmitter, you can listen fresh music on air straight from your MP4. It also store picture in Jpeg format. It is a 1 giga byte internal memory and can also be expand by inserting a Mini SD memory card in its slot. Kingston KPEX has its own type of video format. It is in .mpx format. The package includes a cd that that has a manual and a transcoder. What is a transcoder? It is software where you can convert your mpeg and avi video files to mpx for the mp4 to play. It is very nice because once you convert it the size of the file will be extract. It also includes games and some of them can be downloaded through internet. You can also record sound in infinite time regarding of the size available from your memory. You can record sound using its built-in microphone and its line in wire.

Twitter Con Artists

February 18, 2009

I saw this over on PragueBob’s WebX.Oh!

Perry Belcher’s bio on Twitter reads “Perry Belcher – Seriously Bad Ass Marketer & Neurological Copywriter With a Gift From God.” In reality, he is a confessed felon with a ten year suspended sentence, an Internet con artist who the courts have forced to pay $1 million in restitution to his victims. The scam Perry Belcher has been convicted of (so far) involved preying upon seriously ill people desperate for medical cures, but the “miracle products” he sent them in exchange for their hard earned money were ordinary household herbs such as oregano or chili pepper. Perry Belcher is one of the worst of that new breed calling itself “Internet marketer”, in his case the 21st century equivalent of an old-time snake oil salesman.

You can read details about Perry Belcher’s arrest and conviction here (three, quite unbiased articles I must say, considering the serious nature of his crimes): 1) http://cli.gs/zULnU3 2) http://cli.gs/aJBdd4 3) http://cli.gs/1AQZjH

What do you think? Is this the new-generation of alarmist email forwards (like the AIDS-from-a-pay-phone urban legends), or a creepy underside of Twitter? I do follow people I don’t know, but I doubt I’d give cash or passwords to a Twitter-friend. How about you?

From Facebook backs down, reverses on user information policy – CNN.com

Under fire from tens of thousands of users, the social networking site Facebook said early Wednesday it is reverting to its old policy on user information — for now.

The site posted a brief message on users’ home pages that said it was returning to its previous “Terms of Use” policy “while we resolve the issues that people have raised.”
