the G900

April 30, 2009

with a 5 megapixel auto focus camera, a 2.4 wide touch screen display with hand writing recognition, a gps navigation capability,  an awesome 2 gb expandable external and 160 mb internal memory capacity at your disposal, what else can go wrong.  i bought my sony ericsson g900  last year and yet i cant find a suitable replacement for an upgrade this year. with its slim elegant streamlined design, you cant possibly imagine how s.e. crammed all the features inside this phone. this 3g video call enable phone is also wifi capable thus saving me a lot of money for internet connection alone. just go to any free wifi hotspot and surf away. now i can even blog using this power house of a phone. plus all the standard of a great mobile experience, - bluetooth wireless technology, music player, video recorder and player, fm radio, gprs, mms and sms, calendar and alarm clock, games and other downloadable applications for symbian operating system.

China Plates iPhone App

April 28, 2009

Our very first product, a little utility called China Plates, is now available for the low low price of absolutely free in the iTunes App Store.

Screenshot for Qingxi Labs' China Plates application

I know this freebie isn’t applicable to everyone, but I would have LOVED this during my years in China and I want to spread the word. I constantly struggled with character recognition, even when my spoken Chinese was ok for day-to-day transactions, I couldn’t match up the characters to the sounds very well.

Hey, Qingxi Labs, how about a menu reader to go with this one?!? My days of ordering Something Something Beef and Egglant Fried Something might be over!

nokia china part 2

April 23, 2009

the fake nokia is proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the mobile industry. not only an exact replica of the real thing, it is also power packed with blue tooth technology (the earlier version), a 1.3 megapixel camera (the real one has 2 mp), touch screen display (the real nokia has none). it has another camera in the front (but its not the 3g type for video call) – its sole use is to provide a personal mirror to check your face with – a hightech mirror?!  and some has the capability to become —– a personal handheld tv with its very own telescopic antenna!  yes oh yes! awkward huh. wanna buy one? harhar

the nokia n-95 china was out in the market since early last year and it boasted of the same specifications as the genuine n-95. however, its not a 3g video phone and can only deliver up to 2mp rather than the standard 5mp. and its not even wi-fi capable.

personally speaking, nokia china is a mobile phone full of crap. with no warranty and of disposable personality, i say lets cut the crap. shall we?

nokia china part 1

April 23, 2009

quite disturbing indeed. a nokia phone of the current model… half  the price of the authentic nokia??! oh my gosh!  its true, the proliferation of the so called nokia china is so vast ,  i even have relatives who have one or two. the scary thing is, they are almost the same in appearances. you cant tell the difference. not only that, most of  the nokia china are dual sim type. meaning you can use two sims in one phone. how cool is that?  overall assessment- still a piece of trash. and a scam. nokia must take action now before its too late.

A New Use For Twitter!

April 21, 2009

The new @IamHenryVIII isn’t the first historical tweeter. @Genny_Spencer, for example, recounts the daily one-line diary entries of teenage Genivieve Spencer, living in rural Illinois from 1937 to 194i. This also isn’t the first historical event performed as social media. If you haven’t seen the Aeneid as a Facebook feed yet, you’re missing out!

But I think Twitter is particularly appropriate for Henry VIII. In an era when London commoners would gather to watch the king dine, I imagine Tudor England would welcome constant status updates about the king’s day.

What do you think?

April 20, 2009

Duane and I work closely on the Virtualization community and with our dustomers and its great to have Duane contrituting into the blog! You should see loads of cool stuff coming from Duane which I hope you all enjoy! So let me hand it over to Duane for his first post!

————————-

Well you might not be as Vista gadget crazy as I am but this is still very cool! I am a firm believer that the Vista sidebar is a great platform for BI information, and IT KPI or dashboards. It’s a shame we haven’t seen more gadgets like this one!

One of my customers pointed this out to me yesterday (Thanks Matt Black!)

Hyper-V Monitor Gadget form Windows Sidebar!

Tore Lervik has created just such a gadget! Check out his page here
http://mindre.net/post/Hyper-V-Monitor-Gadget-for-Windows-Windows-Sidebar.aspx

The gadget can list multiple severs at once and also support vmconnect when clicking on a VM.
PS: The gadget uses WMI to connect to the sever so the user need remote WMI access (Step 5) on the Hyper-V sever.

The things I really like about the gadget are the ability to VMconnect to a VM from the gadget and the fact the gadget auto populates the machines and status of machines.

Have a go! Make sure your provide your feedback and comments back to Tore at this blog.

That’s all for now.

Duane
