The USB Flash Drive
August 31, 2009
Do you remember the time when we all use an external storage disc also known as floppy disc to save our data in our computer? Eventually, people learned to use compact disc and dvd with the aid of CD or DVD writer to save larger files. But to date, files and data storage and management has turned far more efficient, faster to open and easy to carry and bring along with the flash drive. Flash drive is the most portable plugged-in storage device in the high tech world of files management. Flash drive is more kind of a memory card or chip that can be connected via usb port. Unlike the memory card which requires a card reader, the flash drive is a plug and play device. Storage capacity can range from 64mb up to 256gig, compatible with all known operating system. With the invention of flash drive, our PC and laptops becomes more compact and lighter. I still remember my first laptop, an IBM thinkpad with a floppy disc drive. So bulky and cumbersome. Now, most mini laptops have usb port for flash drive and the absence of optical disc drive for DVD.
Flash drive is a portable hard drive you can bring anywhere. How cool is that.
Choosing The Right Laptop For You
August 30, 2009
Before buying the right laptop, consider these features:
The processor or CPU is the heart of the computers and laptops. Consider the power and version (latest is the best choice) depending on your requirements and budget. Intel and AMD are the only manufacturers of processor.
The memory of the laptops determines the speed and efficiency of your machine. The bigger the memory, the faster it work. Of course, bigger memory means bigger budget for you.
The connectivity of the laptop is very important. Make sure it has at least two USB connection and at least one firewire connection. It should be WiFi ready and with Bluetooth connectivity.
The compactability and weight of the laptop is quite essential too. Make sure it’s sturdy enough and you can carry it without much effort on your part. The heat coming from the bottom of the machine should also be checked.
Not all laptops have optical drive or dvd player or writer. Usually, mini laptops have no optical drive, but can be installed with an external driver.
The display screen or LCD depends on the number of pixels and size of the screen. Higher number of pixels are more expensive.

Exploding iPod Touch
August 27, 2009
Recently I read a news article in cnet.com about a 15years old kid getting burned by an exploding iPod Touch. Since I’m just a new iPod Touch user, it made me want to think what triggered such catastrophe and did I made a mistake of buying such dangerous gadget. According to the article, the kid just heard a loud pop which came from his pant’s pocket and immediately burned his pants and the kid with a 2nd degree burn in the process. The mother filed a $225,000 suit against Apple in compensatory and punitive damages. The writer of the article believes that the explosion is battery related, afterall, it is not the first time we have heard of a lithium batteryexploding. But what really alarms me the most is the number of exploding iPod. As I scan the internet for other similar news, I found out that there is indeed a number of accidents all related to an iPod exploding. And most of them are iPod Touch.
The question now is, should iPod users be scared to all of these? Is now the time for Apple to recall all the units sold? Not really I guess. Besides, this problem is just a small percentage compare to the hundreds of million of iPod units sold worldwide. For now, lets wait and follow these stories and find out what really made the iPod behave like that. We should also consider taking care of our gadgets. It is a complex machine after all, with features crammed in a small shell, anything can happen.
Voxox is the future for our phone service
August 26, 2009
Maybe many of us have heard of google voice, which will change our phone service in the future. At least, google voice led to many disgruntle from AT&T, T-mobile, ans sprint. Its free features might attract millions of subscribers to use it. While other people found that when the google gave you a free number to connect to all of your cellphones and home phone. When it rings or messages received, your original phone provider still charge you that money.
After the the come – out of google voice, another gadget available online is called “voxox”. A free online phone service allow you to do the same as google voice, and it also assigned you a phone number to connect all of your phone. This gadget also including file sharing, and email, plus call conferencing and video chat. Its rich apps and features really attract millions of people I believe. At least myself is one of them. It is free for register, and it is still on beta stage. But it will be the future.
My iPod Touch
August 26, 2009
The first time i used my iPod Touch, I was totally blown away! This ultra slim, amazing gadget is so high tech, I cannot even compare it to other music video players or mp4 in the market. This is actually my 1st time to own an iPod, before I’m using the ancient but still functional Creative Zen Mp4.
The feature of the iPod touch I’m so impressed with is its built in accelerometer. Sure, my smart phone have such feature for portrait viewing, but to use it for gaming is something else. Playing Bolt and some racing games is easy and exciting as the iPod becomes your steering controller to navigate. How cool is that!
Surfing the net, sending email and downloading applications, games and music in iTune is now a breeze with iPod Touch with its WiFi connectivity. Now you don’t need your PC or laptop for these tasks. Just bring with you your iPod Touch to any WiFi hotspot and zoom away. You can also use Wifi to locate an address or get directions with the map application. Have you tried Google Earth in your computer? Well, you can do that too with the iPod Touch.
The multi-touch feature of the iPod Touch is an incredible system far different from my smart phone which requires a stylus most of the time. Just a flick, pinch and tap and your’e in full control of your iPhone Touch.
My iPhone Touch with 16gig Memory capacity. Simply love it.
