A digital locker service for music and films that have been produced by some of the major Hollywood studios and big recording companies, could be in the offing and that is to be done by none other than Amazon. This news comes from CNET who have sources in Amazon who have shared this information with them. The company’s server would store individual’s content of music, film and book collections.
It is not Amazon alone who is in this race for the digital cloud but also Google and Apple. Amazon however has a slender margin in this race and they are making all efforts to win this race. Google has started testing such a music service where users are able to store their personal stock of music and access it with any web connecting device like the mobile phone.
Mobile devices and making firms are looking on to this new process with moneyed eyes. It would sure attract a lot of customers and therefore means gain in the financial manner for both the mobile device makers as well as the service provider. One would not need to carry hard disk drives etc and just their mobile would be sufficient to download the stuff wherever they are and whenever they wish.
Amazon draws its experience from its electronic book store and its availability to subscribers with the Kindle e-book reader. The book is stored in the digital locker on behalf of the subscriber and only the subscriber has access to the book. There is also the Instant Video service from Amazon where customers buy TV shows or movies and access them whenever they wish to from wherever they wish to.

OMG! so I just stumbled upon this link a while ago,

SEEN THAT??? Just by the look of the phone makes me crazy. I am using my Samsung Galaxy 5 only since February and I know I still have lots to learn about this phone. The last time I had a new phone before this Samsung Galaxy 5 was like 4 or 5 years ago? And making myself own a galaxy 5 now makes me feel like a techie BUT stumbling upon this new gadget that’s way beyond the latest Iphone model and Samsung galaxies, I’m not sure if I could still cope haha. . .

Though owning an android phone today does a lot of work, I am a music lover and having the kind of phone with great battery life makes me enjoy music every time I’m out of the house, reading articles, having little conversations with mom before bed doesn’t wanna make my buy an MP3 or Ipods. I couldn’t understand the need to buy an Ipad when you have the laptop. Same way why I can’t understand myself every time I go online on phone that costs me Php 20.00 every hour when I have my unlimited internet access on my laptop.

I got my Cannon digital camera 4 years ago I thought it was a dream come true and will make me stop wanting another cam, now there’s all these DSLRs coming out that’s making all these beautiful, colorful and lively pictures. What would I want next?

If you are the proud owner of a Samsung 4G Android Phone or a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, you just may be looking at devices that may no longer be on the market in a few months. In June, Apple filed a lawsuit to sue Samsung over the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Tab stating that the two devices were practically identical to the iPad and iPhone.
Apple’s recent lawsuit is no big surprise. With the release of the year’s latest smart phones and tablets, Apple is already fighting to win a patent over a touchscreen design that would practically put every other smart phone creator out of business, and Samsung’s, as well as HTC’s, mobile gadgets have provided the greatest rivalry for the iPhone and iPad. What is surprising is that Apple and Samsung are continuing to do business on other levels. Samsung provides flash components to Apple, and Apple still intends to use Samsung’s products in their new MacBook Air.
Samsung’s Galaxy S2 and Tab have by far been the best new releases this year, and many users have even suggested that these devices may even be better than any Apple products stating that the Galaxy S2 has been the “greatest smart phone ever created.” With accolades such as these, it is no wonder that Apple came after Samsung. It just seems that Apple is throwing a fit to maintain the top position on the leaderboard for mobile devices and to remind other smart phone creators that it is ready and willing to take action against anyone in order to do so.
Regardless, Samsung is still a company to watch for the best advances in Android based smart phones and tablets. They have the best displays and greatest features as well as some of the fastest processors on the market. With the release of the Galaxy S2 and Tab, Android users were once again reminded of why they didn’t choose Apple, and it restored the faith of many in the Android operating system. Their releases also made many consumers realize that the market was no longer Apple vs. Android, but Android vs. Android, and that the latest and best advancements would be seen in Android, not Apple.
Apple, while still the industry leader, has taken notice of this shift, and is clearly unhappy about it as it has recently become very lawsuit crazed. Could Apple become the industry second to Samsung. Good chances are that in the next couple of years, that answer will be yes. In fact, even with the upcoming release of the iPhone 5, there is a good chance that by late next year, Android phones will become the industry leaders.

Its amazing to know that most of the analytical programs which are designed and meant for space research are helpful to our daily chores, comforts and usage. Let us have a look at the utility of such gifted items provided by space research:
Teflon which prevents food from sticking on to cooking utensils was developed by the American Scientists for the space program.
Integrated circuits now used in motor cars, television sets, stereos and other household appliances are products of space research.
Freeze-dried food is a result of space technology. Electronic watches, pocket calculators and other devices are applications of space technology.
A structural analysis computer program developed by the American Scientists is being used to design railway tracts, automobiles, bridges and other structures.
Hospitals and industry in the West now used and store ‘liquid oxygen’ and other gases using insulation developed for space use.
Polyurethane foam installation systems, originally developed to insulate fuel tanks of the Saturn V Rocket are now used in the shipping industry. These help to contain liquefied gas besides meeting other cold storage insulation needs.
Satellites going round the earth in orbit makes easier telephone, television communication. They provide services far cheaper than the old-technology cable method. They also collect weather information, locate land and water pollution, detect underground water, oil or mineral supplies, spot crop diseases and forecast harvests.

We forget we have them in our ear and we go about our daily activities. All at once we realize they are submerged under water

It happens to a lot of people. We turn the wrong way and ploop, the hands free headset jumps right out of your ear into the closest container of water.

Some people had forgotten about the blue tooth, stepped in to the shower or bath tub and are shocked when they see the beloved blue tooth lying there with its little beacon of blue LED sending an SOS message.

My first blue tooth jumped into a sink of sudsy dishwater and as soon as I felt it fall I was yelling, “Oh God”. I grabbed it as it little light blinked helpless in my hand. I used the blow dryer thinking that would help. I ran to the computer and did a quick search for “blue tooth rescue “but I was not very successful with the suggestion to put it in a container of uncooked rice and leave it there for several hours. Its little blue light was getting weaker.

I tried to recharge it thinking since it had a very irregular blink rate, that maybe defibrillator would convert it back to a normal rhythm but after a few minutes its little blue light indicated it was dying. Once again I cried “Oh God , No!”. I lived 100 miles from a Walmart 0r any place where I could get a replacement.

Finally its little blue light went out.

At least it was baptized before it died.

Which iPod is the best? How do I know if it’s durable? How much memory do I need? Look no further for the answers they are all right here. The iPod Classic. I have had a one-hundred-twenty gigabyte model for over four years. I have dropped it in the sink on, the sidewalk and down the stairs. I have spilled coffee, paint thinner and water on it. To this day I still use it daily and it runs like a charm. Though bulkier than most models it has the added advantage of having a large memory capability. I have over a thousand songs and over 48 hours of video and it still has 90 gigabytes left. The superior sound quality of any iPod is something any music lover or podcast listener will enjoy. Cost is another factor to consider when purchasing an apple mp4 device. The Classic is inexpensive per gigabyte compared to other models of apples devices. Games can also be loaded onto the iPod for the enjoyment of the user. Go out and buy this iPod then post your feelings about it. I’m sure you’ll like it. Thanks for reading, please like this article, look out for more articles by me, Jeff Willetts

ISPs trying to get the most out of their cable networks are going to be quite excited by the latest developments in the field which promise download speeds of 4.5 Gbps, quite a big improvement over the current max speeds achievable with DOCSIS, the technology used by cable providers to add internet services to their infrastructure.
Arris, a company that specializes in networking equipment for cable providers, has announced that it will be showing off its latest hardware capable of this impressive speed, albeit with a few caveats.

“ARRIS today announced that it will demonstrate two DOCSIS ‘firsts’ at NCTA 2011, in Chicago,” the company said.

“The demonstration will show real file transfer throughput of 4.5 Gbps of DOCSIS downstream traffic being transmitted over 128 DOCSIS downstream channels into a single Fiber Node,” it announced.

The company can achieve this speed by using up more channels than the current DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) implementations do. This means that there are fewer analog TV channels left, but providers will probably find it a worthwhile trade-off.

“In the demo, an ARRIS C4 CMTS will be configured using four newly-released 32 Downstream Cable Access Modules (32D CAMs) to source the 128 DOCSIS downstream channels into the Fiber Node,” it explained.

“The demo will also show a proof-of-concept implementation of a 5-200 MHz high-split DOCSIS upstream system with 575 Mbps of DOCSIS upstream bandwidth being transmitted over 24 DOCSIS Upstream channels out of a single Fiber Node,” it added.

As users get more and more used to viewing online video, in HD, playing games or getting their movies in minutes rather than hours, ISPs struggle to keep up.

Bandwidth gets increasingly expensive as it nears the users, the biggest investments these companies make in infrastructure are for the so-called “last mile,” the portion that gets the data to the actual user.

Especially in areas where subscribers are spread out geographically, ISPs are always looking for ways to maximize the use of their existing infrastructure, be it telephone lines or TV cable, rather than upgrading it to fast but expensive fiber-to-home connections for example.

There has been little reason to hide our enthusiasm for the upcoming Battlefield 3, especially considering the nearly sublime state of the game at this year’s E3. EA has done everything right with making sure Battlefield 3is going to be a hit with PC gamers… until now. Over the weekend the “Physical Warfare Pack,” was announced, and fans are annoyed at the idea of being forced to buy a retail product at a brick-and-mortar store in order to access some of the game’s weapons.Right now this promotion has only been announced for the UK. If you preorder the game at GAME and Gamestation locations, you gain access to the extra equipment on the first day of release. Here’s how EA described the content:

Players can storm the battlefield armed with powerful weapons and items only available in the Physical Warfare Pack including the Type 88 light machine gun with bipod for superior firepower and total zone control, the SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor that provides increased stealth abilities for Recon soldiers, and the lethal armour-piercing flechette ammo for the DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun that is sure to tear through anything in its path. Also included is day one access to the highly versatile DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun itself.

While it’s possible this content could be released as a for-pay content pack for the game, the idea of being forced to pay early through select retailers for weapons that don’t need to be unlocked and will represent a clear advantage on the first day of release isn’t sitting well with anyone. Gaming forums, Twitter, and my own inbox have been filled with people complaining about this promotion, especially given many were hoping to buy via Steam or other digital distribution services.

We’ll see if EA decides to reverse this decision, as the company has flip-flopped on this sort of promotion in the past. Retailer-specific content is one of the more customer-hostile trends in modern gaming, and as it stands now, this promotion will create a group of players with a clear advantage over everyone else. Let’s hope EA sees the light.

Microsoft has promised it will release a major edition of Windows Phone every year.

The promise was revealed in a Microsoft job posting on Monday. Engadget notes that the timeline shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given that iOS and Android both push out major releases months apart. Microsoft’s job posting states the following:

There has never been a more thrilling time for the Windows Phone team! Windows Phone 7 launched and is building momentum in the market. Do you want to be part of driving the next big business for the company? If you believe Windows Phone is a critical area of investment for Microsoft and if you have a passion for creating compelling mobile user experiences then come join the Windows Phone Customer Experience Engineering team (CXE) and help shape the future of mobile. We are passionate about delivering world-class products to our users and partners. We aren’t just building a me-too iPhone or Android competitor; we’re changing the way customers use and experience their device. The Application Platform team is building the new development framework for Windows Phone applications, responsible for defining the application model and delivering the application manager, execution framework, integration with the OS, notifications, data services, integration with cloud services and delivering the ecosystem for supporting mobile application developers.

This Senior Program Manager position will be the CXE Feature PM that drives all development work on the Application Platform for update releases between major yearly releases. You will work closely with the Application Platform team who is working on major yearly releases and with the best technologies/teams across the company (e.g. Silverlight, XNA, .NET Compact Framework). We believe leveraging our partners, combined with building phone specific technologies within our own engineering team, results in leveraging the best technology from Microsoft for our developers.

Microsoft is currently on track to release Windows Phone Mango in the fall. The software giant unveiled a number of new Windows Phone Mango features last month. Mango will include over 500 new features ranging from multitasking through to some major Bing search improvements.

This was not an EA decision or the result of any action by EA,” reads the official statement from the company. “Steam has imposed a set of business terms for developers hoping to sell content on that service – many of which are not imposed by other online game services. Unfortunately, Crytek has an agreement with another download service which violates the new rules from Steam and resulted in its expulsion of Crysis II from Steam.”

The statement goes on to point out that Crysis 2 is still available online from a number of digital distribution outlets, which would certainly add weight to the theory that it’s simply been booted out by Valve – if EA wanted to make it an Origin exclusive they wouldn’t have stopped at the Steam store.
