USB at the same time a Lighter
November 6, 2008
I thankfully never took up smoking, as I perfectly content sticking to my addiction to caffeinated beverages. However, the countless smokers out there will no doubt agree that it’s a pain to always keep a lighter on hand. Some on get small ones that they can fit in their cigarette pack. while many keep one in their pocket. Unfortunately for those geeky smokers out there, that usually means having a lighter and a flash drive floating in your pocket all day. Why not get something that combines the two…..
I’m sure you’re wondering how u handle to pack a USB flash drive into a lighter and still find room for the lighter fluid. That might be cause for concern, were this to actually use a flammable liquid, however, it does not. Rather, it was built on the same concepts as the lighter you find in the cars. It uses small resistance coils powered by a rechargeable battery, Here where it gets really fun, in order to recharge the battery, you plug it into an available USB port. You wont have to worry about remembering to plug it for recharging all the time because it doubles as a flash drive, which you will no doubt use regularly. Unfortunately, if you’re looking to purchase one of these, you’ll might be depressed that it is currently only a concept design. Sorry folks!.

Kingston to release 32gb USB flash drive
October 15, 2008
Flash drives are no longer meant for only small amount of data storage. Kingston has released a new flash drive that can store up to 32 GB. The 32GB Data Traveler 150 (DT150) offers the largest amount of storage for any Data Traveler USB drive right now.
The DT150 comes with a five year warranty and is fully compatible with Windows Vista, XP and 2000, in addition to Linux 2.6 and above and Mac OS X 10.3 and above. Though the DT150 boasts a lot of storage it should be noted that it does not support Windows Ready boost. The DT150 is available in the U.S. and will retail for US$139.00.
It’s amazing to think how much you can put on a 32GB flash drive. Just imagine the amount of data that is capable of being stored in something small enough to put in your pocket. As flash drives get bigger, I bet the anxiety of losing the drive and everything on it gets larger as well.
USB Powered LCD Picture Frame
October 15, 2008
Digital Photo frames are getting larger in size and can generally do more such as using wireless features to retrieve photo’s from emails. This new digital photo frame seems to have stepped back a little as it measures just 4.3″ in size… or has it stepped back? Find out after the jump.
This usb Bus-Powered LCD picture frame might only have a 4.3″ screen, but it has a bus-powered usb video card built in that is responsible for running the backlit LCD screen. What this allows you to do is use the small photo frame as a second screen for your laptop. The 800 x 480 display can be used to relocated widgets on to it, run some RSS feeds or even be used for playback of video. With it being an extension to your regular desktop then it can be used for whatever you want to drag over to it.
It’s not the cheapest of photo frames at a fairly large $200 and there are some alternatives out there that are also a little larger in screen size.

USB flash drive
July 12, 2008
Our desktop computers have big memory. We have a lot of songs, movies, videos saved as well as important stuff that we need for work.
Despite this, we still use a USB flash drive. This is very convenient because sometimes we need to get some files from home to work. It is also plug and play so as long as there is a USB drive it’s a go. Whenever I have meetings at the office and I need to do a presentation, I do not bring my laptop anymore especially when I’m commuting. I just save my presentation in the flash drive and off I go to work. This helps me a lot so that I don’t bring many things during meeting and reports.
There are a lot of sizes for the memory. What we have is the 1G memory. This is enough for us because we only keep important files in the flash drive but for those big files, we prefer to save it in our computer. Thanks to technology, there’s no need to carry bulky files around.
MagicJacks are Economical, Easy and Fun to Use
April 19, 2008
Unlimited, free, local and long distance in the U.S., crisp clear voice communication, caller ID, call waiting, voicemail and more for only $39.95 for the entire year?! And it’s totally legal? All I can say is wow!!
I was not in need of an extra phone when I looked into the MagicJack. I actually have enough phones lines, including my cell. I had not yet seen the infomercials either. I do have a fascination with technology and gadgets that are useful, economical and easy for anyone to install.
The MagicJack only required me to plug it into my USB port of my computer (I have Windows Vista). A telephone (or headset) plugs in to the phone jack on other end of the MagicJack and the software is automatically downloaded. You get a free phone number and can choose the state you want your number to be in, as well as the area code (if available) and the prefix. It provides the remaining four numbers. Very easy.
Also, I’ve used it on a different computer (a Mac) just to see what would happen. It worked very well also, appearing on the screen with my information and I was able to make all kinds of phone calls in the U.S. So now I know I can carry it with me if I know I’m going to be around a computer. A handset telephone or headset is also needed in order to speak to someone. Just make sure the computer you use has a high speed Internet connection.
There is a special 911 feature with MagicJack, good to set up at the beginning. Since this device is connected to your computer, it’s always a good idea to have a backup telephone in case of an emergency.
One of the many features I appreciate is being able to check my voicemail from any phone, just as professionally as any other telephone service with this feature. One needs to create a password first, as expected, and I can listen to my messages from any phone, or save, delete or forward the messages or change folders. Yes, one can create separate folders for work, family and friends (and more),
I noticed after creating the voice mail, MagicJack creates a .WAV file which is sent as an attachment to your email address. I downloaded one to listen to a message I received through my computer speaker. There can be some useful applications for this feature…
Since I’ve had my MagicJack for only a few days, I haven’t explored everything about this new, fun device yet. For example, there is always the international call feature one can add at any tine, which provides very low cost, international service. More features can be found on their website So far, my experience has been exciting. If I want to renew this for another year, the cost is only $19.95. What a unique gift this would make!
