States Ban Hunting Over the Internet

July 8, 2006

Louisiana is now the 22nd state to ban internet hunting from sites such as live-shot.com. The site was created mostly for hunter’s with disabilities who could no longer enjoy the physical aspect of the “game”. But the website would now enable them to do what other’s do with just the click of a mouse.

Surprisingly Texas was another state that banned the practice last year. Some hunter’s pay $1,500 for the priveledge of getting to shoot an animal via the internet. What will they think of next.

July 6, 2006

Samsung is has won an award for this nifty gadget. It’s a cell phone that allows visually impaired individuals to still be able to make and recieve phone calls via the Braille system.

Glad somebody thought of it.

Cellphones and Liquor is Equal

June 30, 2006

A study now shows that when you use a cellphone while driving, even a hands-free model you are still as impaired as you would be if you were drinking. Your mind is more on the conversation so if you need to do a quick move to avoid impact you would possibly fail as your reflexes are way off.

Come on people. Don’t talk and drive.

Kurzweil-National Federation of the Blind Reader

June 26, 2006

I’m glad that this gadget is now available for purchase to the people who need it.

Dubbed the “Kurzweil-National Federation of the Blind Reader” this hardware allows blind individuals to be even more independent by reading themselves.

Unlike any other gadget which has been out, once you run this over words it immediately puts it into audio for those who can’t see, much more quickly than anything that came before it.

This is also the first text-to-speech apparatus that has been available and even though it is in the pricey range of $3,495 a small amount of these readers are available for $200. For more information please go to Kurzweil Educational Systems.

Ring Tones Kids Can Hear But Adults Can’t

June 14, 2006

Kids are downloading ringtones off the internet that can’t be heard by many older adults. As we age we lose the ability to hear higher pitched noises that the younger generation still can.

This is driving both parents and teachers nuts. Students can now recieve calls and text messages without older teachers knowing because many can no longer hear the sounds of the students phone ringing.

The problem with this is that it will be easier for the kids to cheat if they have no fear of the teacher hearing their cells ringing as they recieve the answers for their tests.

Generation Next always one step ahead it seems.

Coming Soon Japanese Watches With Mobile Messages

June 12, 2006

The Japanese always seem to be five steps ahead in technology and now when many have stopped using watches because of the fact that they can get the same info from their cellphone, mp3 or video player, or pda, out comes the mobile watch.

If you have ever put your phone on silent and stuffed it in a purse or pocket only to miss several important phone calls, then this watch is for you. It works with wireless bluetooth technology and flashes you messages if you recieve a phone call or text message.

Frustrated Cell Users Give Up On Gadgets

May 27, 2006

When a newer version of a cell phone comes out, you can bet that it will usually have more gadgets and advanced options than the previous models. Cell phones can now surf the net, play movies, videos and music, text, take pictures and even play games.

However to get to some of these features can be hard and with longer menus some non-tech fiends are getting a growing headache to go with their growing list of cellphone features.

This is bad for the wireless companies because there are not many people left who do not have cellphones so the only way for them to make billions more is to keep adding new and exciting features so that people will toss their old phones and grab a newer version. But if people can’t use them and grow frustrated that spells lower sales and the companies bottom line can’t allow that to happen.

Let’s see what the future brings to help solve this problem. Because I do agree that I am completely lost when it comes to all of these added features and I would need to read the manual just to operate the phone and who wants to do that?
